About Andrew

 

Andrew Lunsford is a nationally recognized operatic tenor, voice teacher, and arts leader whose career spans more than 15 years of performance, teaching, and arts advocacy. He is the founder of Indiana Vocal Arts and a passionate mentor to singers of all levels, known for blending technical precision with artistic purpose.

 

As a performer, Andrew has appeared in leading roles and as a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and with companies across the country. He has collaborated with Grammy, Tony, and Emmy Award–winning conductors, directors, and choreographers, gaining firsthand insight into what it takes to prepare singers for the demands of the professional stage at the highest levels.

 

As an educator, Andrew’s teaching is grounded in proven vocal pedagogy, backstopped by vocal science, and applied with clarity and care across a wide range of styles. His students have won state championships, top honors in competitions, selective university scholarships, and been accepted into competitive programs nationwide. Whether teaching a first-time singer or coaching an experienced performer, he fosters a studio culture of trust, growth, and excellence.

 

In addition to teaching, Andrew serves as National Chair of the Winston Classical Voice Scholarship and is an active board member of Choirs of America and the National Society of Arts and Letters. His leadership in national music organizations reflects his broader commitment to empowering young artists and building a more connected, creative vocal community.

About Mariann

 

With a distinguished career in Broadway and opera, Mariann Cook brings a wealth of stage experience and teaching excellence to her students.

 

Now retired from academia, she previously served as Senior Faculty of Music Theater Voice and Director of Vocal Studies at Rider University’s Westminster School of the Arts, where she helped build one of the country’s most respected undergraduate musical theatre programs. She also taught voice at the University of Oklahoma and has guided countless young singers to success on stage and in auditions.

 

Her teaching philosophy (spotlighted in HuffPost’s “Women in the Performing Arts” series) emphasizes personal growth through artistry, vocal freedom, and creative exploration. She remains passionate about working with students through private online instruction, where her legacy of mentorship continues to inspire and elevate performers across the country.

 

Mariann’s performance credits span Broadway, national tours, and leading opera companies—from starring as Maria in The Sound of Music and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady to portraying Aldonza in Man of La Mancha (opposite John Raitt and Jerome Hines), and appearing as a symphonic soloist in Broadway concerts nationwide. Her versatility extends to opera and operetta, with standout roles at Tulsa Opera and appearances in The Merry Widow, Pinafore, and more.

 

Recognized as an innovator in music theater education, Mariann is the author of the Teen Pop Broadway Collection, a best-selling songbook created to provide age-appropriate repertoire for developing voices. Her mission is to empower students with the tools and material to build both confidence and artistry - always in a safe, supportive, and individualized environment.
